school programming

Music education bolsters primary education, strengthening math skills, reading skills, communication and so much more.
A Child’s Song educators provide supplemental music education in classrooms in several districts to children ages birth to high school.

Grant funding coupled with generous donations from our supportive community enables A Child’s Song to offer specialized music education at area schools. Through collaborative partnerships in the Denver Metro area, we have provided music programming in numerous districts, enhancing existing music programs and even developing core music curriculum in underfunded schools. We also partner with individual schools to provide fun and educational after-school programs for children of all ages.

Our instructors travel with keyboards, drums, guitars, ukuleles and whatever other instruments will help serve those they support and create individualized programs to meet the schools before, during and/or after school needs.

We have served thousands of children across numerous districts including:

     • Adams 12 Five Star Schools

     • Aurora Public Schools

     • Mapleton Public Schools

     • Sheridan School District No. 2

Music Programs at STEM Magnet Lab in Northglenn Colorado

I have had the pleasure of participating and supporting Kristin’s (ACS instructor) drum circle at Sanctuary for the last 6 weeks and wanted to share what I have noticed. Clients at first were very timid, not engaged, and disinterested. Kristin’s beaming positive attitude and passion for music has become contagious. The clients, even the very shy ones, have become leaders in the drum circle. Kristin creates a drum circle that is also a safe space. Clients have come to the group escalated and in negative head spaces, but in just a few minutes their energy is uplifted. Please expand this program to our other locations! Our kids need this!

Music Experience for Educational Achievement is a collaborative effort between ACS and STEM Magnet Lab School of Adams 12 Five Star Schools to provide an enhanced musical education program and experience to students that extends beyond the capabilities of either organization.

STEM Lab utilizes an innovative educational model that reaches beyond the norms of education. The school’s leadership is committed to every student in the STEM school receiving basic music education in piano, winds, or strings. It is also important to them that the musical experiences are individualized and very applicable to the disciplines on which the school was founded. Some children receive this music education in after-school programs, and the majority takes part in music classes during the school day. ACS provides highly individualized instruction in which every child receives great benefit no matter their musical background or natural ability.

The program is far more than just auditory instruction. Thanks to new inroads in technology and advanced programming, students receive full-body instruction using sight, sound, movement, and tactile experiences. This advanced education is possible through the unique collaboration, which brings many innovative people together to implement the latest teaching modalities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

As students experience quick success in learning music, they have the opportunity to showcase their talents in a weekly “recital” for other students, parents, staff, and members of the community. This provides even greater incentive for the students to learn quickly.

The pilot program was presented during the Spring 2012 semester. Each ACS Educator provided approximately ten hours of instruction time weekly free of charge to the school, in addition to planning and preparation time. The program exceeded expectations and has been a phenomenal success as indicated by students, parents, staff and administration of the STEM school. The program has been in operation for over 10 years as of the 2022-23 school year.
